Dear Students:
This post may come as a little surprise since I have not posted anything recently.  It is not easy to say good bye to those you care for and love. Teaching has been part of my life for so many years; I was 16 years old when I began as a teacher's assistant in the Luis Ramos González Junior High School.
For the past 13 years I have been part of the family within the República de Costa Rica Vocational High School. I began on a September 13th. It has been a very interesting and awesome journey! I have had the blessing to teach 10th, 11th and 12th grades. My students have given me grief, worries, anger, but also respect, friendship, knowledge and love. The balance inclines towards the positive things.
Thank you for seeping into my life! Thank you for sharing your youth, bubbleness, energy and knowledge with me! I found the fountain of youth of Juan Ponce De León in each one of you. Thank you for being you! Remember to ZIP IT and pay attention in class; and never say you can't, because later on you may be SORRY.
Dr. Seus is a favorite of mines. He once said, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." This is so true; we should always be thankful for what we recieve. Another one of his quotes is: "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose." Be brave and achieve your dream... Try to visualize the lighthouse and follow its light.  Remember I always will remain your teacher and friend.

Love always,
Edna D. Ortiz
